Vancouver Urbanists Big Tent Party
On the last Friday of the month is the Vancouver Urbanists Big Tent Party taking place at BREWHALL in Olympic Village in Vancouver.
The event is a chance for you to learn about and meet some of our regional Strong Towns groups, Strong Towns Vancouver who graciously organized this event, Del-POP, Strong Towns Nanaimo and Strong Towns Victoria (and us!).
The event will feature other groups in the region that focus on urban design, housing, road and pedestrian safety and other urbanist issues, this includes Vision Zero Vancouver, Movement, HUB Cycling, BC Urbanism and Abundant Housing Vancouver.
Each group will be giving a short talk about themselves and what they do. No RSVP is required unless you are part of a group giving a presentation (shoot me an email if you want your group to participate), event starts at 5:30pm.
Monday April 14th 12pm - 1pm —
Online Meeting: Office Hours
We have had a number of people request we run meetings during the day for people who cannot attend in the evenings, as such next month marks our first office hours meeting which our society recently passed by board resolution to hold every second Monday of the month.
Please join us Monday April 14th at 12pm to talk about concerns you have in the community, hear about what we’re working on, or just have a chat with likeminded folks who want to see Langley get even better.

Saturday May 3rd / Sunday May 4th —
Jane’s Walk Walnut Grove &
Jane’s Walk Willoughby
In collaboration with Jane’s Walk Vancouver we are hosting two public narrated walks in Langley for this year’s Jane’s Walk festival.
Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighbourhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbours, and is named after famous author Jane Jacobs. This year the festival runs from Friday May 2nd to Sunday May 4th. You can learn more at the Jane's Walk website: https://janeswalk.org/
Jane’s Walk Vancouver will also be promoting this event, so we are welcoming not just Langley neighbours but also anyone to join us who might be interested in a walk around Langley!
Both walks will start at 10am and below is the route maps of each walk.
Jane’s Walk Walnut Grove - Saturday May 3rd 10am
Jane’s Walk Willoughby - Sunday May 4th 10am
We will also be doing some “dry runs” of the walks soon to test out how well they perform in real life, feel free to reach out to james@strongtownslangley.org if you want to attend these walks. We are estimating about 1hour 30mins to walk, but with people talking and waiting for people to keep up with each checkpoint, it could take up to 3 hours(!) so be prepared!
The main walk events will be public with no RSVP required. James Hansen of Strong Towns Langley will be leading both walks, though we are hoping to also have some people with special knowledge join to share insights and hidden facts about each community.
We hope you can join us, meet your neighbours and learn something new!
Please Support Us!
We want to put on more meetings and more events. These events are so important not only to help raise awareness of the important issues effecting Langley and other municipalities, but also building stronger community ties.
But we need your support! Please consider clicking here to become a member of our society to help support our efforts. For just $10/year you can become a voting member of our society, help fund our expenses, and will receive a welcome pack featuring Strong Towns Langley stickers and a brochure about what we do.
We want to see Langley become an even better place to live and we want to continue to do more in our community. By supporting us and attending our meetings and events you really do make a difference. Thank you!
